Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative Signs 20-year PPA with SunPower

SunPower is constructing a 20MW ac solar PV SunPower® Oasis® Power Plant system in Arizona and has agreed to sell the electricity generated to Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) when the plant commences operating by the end of 2016. SSVEC has an option to purchase the facility at a later date.

SMEPA will Buy Power from New Origis Energy Solar Facility

South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA) will buy power from a new 52 MW solar facility in Lamar County to be built by Origis Energy.  SMEPA buys, generates and transmits power to the 11 electric cooperatives in southern and western Mississippi that own it.

CoServ Begins Final Testing

CoServ Solar Station (CoServ), the largest coop solar installation in Texas, has begun final testing of its 2.7 MW solar farm in Denton County, Texas.  The facility is powered by 8,448 solar panels and is one of 14 pilot projects of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Utility Network Deployment Acceleration project.

Tri-State Increases Solar Portfolio

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. (Tri-State) and juwi Inc. have entered into a long-term power purchase agreement related to the planned 30 MW San Isabel Solar Project.  Pursuant to the agreement, Tri-State will purchase all of the output of the facility during the 25-year term.  The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Ouachita Electric Cooperative Enters Into Service Agreement with Today’s Power Inc. for Solar Power

Oklahoma Coop Brings in More Solar Energy

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (Tri-County) has reached an agreement with Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AEC) by which AEC will supply Tri-County with a one-megawatt solar array.  Tri-County members who participate in its new community solar program will be able to purchase electricity generated by the solar array.  Click here to read more.

New Coop-Owned Ethanol Refinery Fires Up

A new ethanol refinery, in which Minnesota-based Great River Energy (GRE) owns a majority stake, recently reached commercial operation.  The refinery is located adjacent to a GRE-owned coal-fired power plant.  Steam from the coal plant is used to power the refinery.  Click here for more.

Minnesota Electric Cooperative to Install Solar on Municipal Building

In a deal being billed as the first of its kind, Wright-Hennepin Electric Cooperative Association (Wright-Hennepin) has reached an agreement with the city of Rockford whereby Wright-Hennepin will install solar panels on two separate sites owned by the city.
