NRECA Indicates Concern With Senate Farm Bill

The CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Jim Matheson, has expressed concerns regarding certain alterations to the current rural electrification funding program proposed by the Senate’s Farm Bill. Matheson has encouraged the Senate, in particular, to reconsider their approach toward escrow accounts for rural electrification.

NRECA CEO Requests Funds for Rural Broadband

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced on Friday that Gibson Electric Membership Corporation (Gibson EMC) was awarded more than $1.3 million by the State of Tennessee through the State’s Broadband Accessibility Grant Program. The grant will help Gibson EMC move closer to the goal of making high-speed internet service available to all of its members.
