Transmission Line Proposed to Serve New Pipeline
Basin Electric Power Cooperative proposes to build and oversee a 70-mile transmission line in South Dakota. The line would improve reliability and supply additional power needed to operate a Keystone XL oil pipeline proposed in the same area. While Basin Electric has yet to submit the project to the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission for approval, the coop plans to begin construction of the line in 2013 at a projected cost of $43 million.
